About us

Our team is made up of veterans, military spouses, and caregivers of war wounded who live or have lived the life of those we work diligently to serve. Years of interaction inside the veteran community has led the Military Musters team to recognize key challenges and struggles that spouses, families and veterans face.

Staff Members

Don Fried 
Founder, Executive Director

Raised in a military family and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Don brings more than 10 years experience in management, business development, marketing and communications in both private and non-profit sectors. He is the main driving force behind the Military Musters and Monthly Musters veteran support programs.

Annette Smith
Founder, Program Director

Annette has more than 15 years of experience in business, sales and in the IT profession. In addition to serving the Military Musters team, Annette provides full time care for her husband Eric. He suffers from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) he received during service with the 173rd U.S. Army Airborne Brigade. This first-hand experience in dealing with combat injuries has been instrumental in guiding the research and development of the Military Musters and Monthly Musters programs.

Sandy Fried
Founder, Accounting & Human Resources

Sandy is the mother of two veteran children and spouse of a three-war veteran and retired Coast Guard member. Her experience with military life is first hand. The frustration of dealing with VA procedures and red tape combined with her administrative, entrepreneurial and managerial skills has been instrumental in the creation of the Military Musters Program.

Stacy Bayton
Founder, Chairman of the Board
Stacy currently serves as the Executive Director for the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network and for VetsConnect2Jobs. Raised in a military family, Stacy, served in both the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and U.S. Marines Corps. She is the wife of an active duty Marine, the mother of four children, a veteran, an entrepreneur, a social activist, and a civic leader.

Ketti McCormick
General Counsel

Ms. McCormick is a licensed attorney in three states (Arizona, California, and New Mexico) with a private practice in Arizona.  Ms. McCormick  comes from a military family and her dedication to assisting those within the military community is evident in her law practice and the charitable organizations she supports.

Military Musters is a nonprofit organization in the state of California.  As of Feburary 9th, 2012 the organization has filed its 501(c)(3) application with the IRS. Currently Military Musters works through our fiscal sponsor, Peace Development Fund (PDF) to process tax deductible donations.  

The Peace Development Fund (Federal Tax ID Number: 04-2738794) is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. PDF's Form 990/financial statement is available upon request.
