The Need
After years of service supporting the veteran community, the Military Musters team continues to find people that remain untreated, have unanswered questions or who are left with feelings of anxiety and depression.
The quality of life for soldiers who sustain physical or mental injuries in combat is impacted. Also, these injuries often require life-long care.
With military personnel surviving wounds in numbers far greater than in previous wars and due to the severity and nature of wounds sustained, it is imperative for them to find reliable and trustworthy information to help deal with their injuries. The sad reality is that current systems of support services are not capable of adequately handling the numbers of our wounded veterans, their families and caregivers. For those transitioning home and struggling to readjust it is critical to find the right support during their recovery process.
When a warrior is injured during their military service or is about to retire there is not just one source for information, but thousands to search through in order to compile material that best suits the Veteran or their family’s needs. This can be very time consuming, confusing and overwhelming as information overlaps, is outdated, or just not informative.
When a Veteran and their family is going through trauma it is not always easy to think clearly, or take the time to research for information and assistance as they are just trying to cope with their situation on a daily basis. Military and Veteran families struggle to understand separation and injury recovery processes, resources available to them, what lies ahead, or their rights and benefits.
